Background: Oppositional candidate Joachim Paul of the @AfD party was the frontrunner in the upcoming elections for mayor of the city of Ludwigsburg. Without any court ruling, Paul was excluded from the elections by a city council because of trumped up allegations from the domestic intelligence service ("Verfassungsschutz"), claiming Joachim Pauls political convictions are to be "unconstituional" - a legally unclear term used by the Germany's ruling regime to defame dissidents. By Germany's constitution, exclusions of candidates from an election may only take place through a court ruling, not by any administrational process tough. Nevertheless: Two administrational courts have now backed the councils illegal decision and ruled, that Joachim Paul may only fight his exclusion after the election has taken place, effectively stripping him of any chance to be elected.
